Send hundreds of photos in a single email with Hotmail

As long as there has been email, there has been the issue of attachment size limits. We are happy to announce that the new Hotmail has all but eliminated this problem.

There is nothing worse than constructing a well thought out email complete with a bunch of great photos only to get a bounce-back error message telling you the email is simply too big to send. It's often difficult to decide what photos make the final cut and which ones to leave out. Thankfully, with the new Hotmail, this is a choice you should never need to make again.

As Hotmail is integrated with SkyDrive you can now send hundreds of photos, documents or other files in a single email. It's as easy as adding a regular attachment and will allow you to compose emails up to 10GB in size (that's enormous if you aren't a real tech-head).

Here's how to do it:

  1. Click New to create a new message.
  2. Type an email address and subject.
  3. Click Photos, and then click New album.
  4. Select the photos that you want to create an album with, and then click Open. Hotmail will upload and save the photos to your SkyDrive.
  5. Edit the relevant details or preview your email slideshow on the right-hand side of your browser.
  6. Type a message, and then click Send.

Your recipient will receive a private link allowing them to preview your photos.

From there they can:

  • view the photos in a rich slideshow from your SkyDrive;
  • download the photos to their computer; and
  • add their own photos to the album.

Even if they aren't using Hotmail, this feature still works perfectly. So don't fill up your friends' inboxes with huge attachments — just use the power of Hotmail and SkyDrive to take the hassle out of photo sharing.

Remember to change the permissions of your albums so you can choose who sees what.
